Our Story

Welcome to Ochils Coffee Roastery

Nestled at the foot of the Ochil Hills, you’ll find us on Solsgirth Home Farm near Dollar, where we started out as a pop-up cafe at the monthly farm markets. While we awaited the conversion of the old farm stables into our roastery, we built a community around great coffee and meaningful connections.

We are passionate about reflecting the dedication and care of the farmers who grow our beans by taking the same care in every batch we roast and every cup we make.

The Story Behind Ochils Coffee Roastery

Started in 2022, by our founder Stevie, after a 30+ years as a nurse with the NHS. With a growing interest in quality coffee, he decided to pursue to new challenge. We were fortunate to be offered the opportunity to set up our roastery on Solsgirth Home Farm, and from there, we set out to create a space where great coffee and sustainability go hand in hand.

Our Coffee

Inspired by the landscape around us, we’ve named our coffees after the Ochil Hills that overlook the roastery, a nod to the rugged beauty and character of the Scottish outdoors that we enjoy spending so much time in!

We roast in small batches to ensure every coffee we produce meets our exacting standards. Our approach is all about balance; highlighting the natural flavours of the beans while crafting blends that are approachable and full of character. We source our coffees from importers we know have connections and reputations for looking out for the farmers who produce our great coffees to ensure we are supporting a fair, transparent and sustainable industry.

  • Quality

We take great care with our coffee. From choosing high quality beans from trusted sources, to roasting them with care, everything we do is about balance, attention, and doing things properly. Never rushed, never overdone. Just good coffee, made well.

  • Sustainability

Being based on a farm constantly reminds us of the importance our environmental responsibility. We work with people who value fair partnerships with farmers, keep our operations thoughtful and local, and make choices that respect both nature and the people behind every harvest.

  • Community

Coffee brings people together. We value the growers who nurture the plants, the customers who make time to enjoy a cup, and the local community around us. These connections are what give our coffee its warmth and meaning.
